Reproductive Freedoms

The Green Wave originated in Latin America in 2015 when Argentine women donned green bandanas to protest violence against women, symbolizing unity and change. It grew to address the decriminalization of, expanding access to, and legalization of, abortion. After the Dobbs decision, eliminating a federal right to abortion, the Green Wave activists in Latin America joined activists here in the United States to reestablish this freedom advocating for the rights of women to make their own reproductive choices. I wear my green bandana daily. Join me. And let’s let everyone know we are part of a community that empowers women and protects their reproductive rights.

The fundamental right of women to control their own bodies is not a privilege, it's a cornerstone of a just and equitable society. In Arizona, we must enshrine this right within our state constitution, ensuring that every woman has the autonomy to make deeply personal decisions about her own healthcare.

This includes the full spectrum of reproductive choices: from deciding when and how to grow a family through methods like in vitro fertilization or surrogacy, to the profoundly personal choice of whether or not to continue a pregnancy. These decisions are complex, often laden with emotional, financial, and medical considerations unique to each individual woman.

It is not the place of judges, legislators, or clergy to dictate these deeply personal choices. A woman's body is her own, and her right to make decisions about her reproductive health is paramount. We must stand firm in our commitment to protect this fundamental freedom for all women in Arizona.

I support the Arizona Abortion Access ballot initiative to ensure access to safe, legal, affordable, destigmatized abortion.

Arizonans deserve the freedom to make our own healthcare decisions. Voting YES on Prop. 139 ensures we get that.
